Generate More Energy

Generate More Energy

By Donna Vail

Are you tired and looking for more energy? With so much on mom’s plate these days, we tackle the tasks that serve others before ourselves; the dishes, the laundry, cleaning house and making sure everyone gets fed. We overlook ourselves in the process of putting others first and wonder why we sometimes hit bottom. Most don’t realize that if you take time out for yourself to recharge your batteries, not only will you have more energy to do more, but it will have an immediate impact on your family increasing your personal satisfaction in all areas of your life. Now that’s what I call empowering!

Your physical health should be top priority as it affects all areas of your life. It’s natural to have peaks and valleys, but not crashes and backsliding. As a mom, our thinking should be on high performance because our lives truly demand it. At first you may think operating at high performance doesn’t sound inspiring but it is the very path that allows the flow of more inspiration, peace and rest.

You really don’t have time to skip out on exercise because it’s exactly what you need. Exercise helps you:

  • De-stress
  • Have more energy in your day
  • Reshapes your body so you feel better and look better
  • Sleep better at night
  • Model for your children how to take good care of the body
  • Have more to give to others because you’re taking care of you
  • Be more inspired to eat more nutritiously
  • Generate more oxygen in the body

I can already hear the excuses: “I don’t have enough time” or “I don’t know of a good routine that will give me the results I want”. Believe me, I have had plenty of my own over the years, I have found over that walking everyday delivers the greatest results. It’s easy to do. You can do it alone or with your partner. It’s virtually free. No gimmicks, no costly programs to buy. The way to put the body into fat burning mode is to walk briskly at least 27 minutes. If you walk longer than this you will move out of this stage. I like to keep my body in fat burning mode as long as possible so I walk 27-30 minutes in the morning. This gives my morning a jumpstart. I walk when my husband is still home with the kids. Another walk in the evening after dinner will up your results and help you sleep better, waking refreshed for the next morning. Once you add walking to your daily regimen then add in yoga or kettle bell routine or Pilates. Any of these programs on DVD work especially well for moms who can’t get to the gym.

It’s very important that everyone do what is appropriate for them. Customize your plan to your unique situation. Remember to consult your physician if you have any medical problems that would prevent you from implementing these fitness ideas. I’m excited that you will soon be feeling more energized, peaceful and clear once you’ve got it going!
