More Peace for Mom

By Donna Vail

“The more we sweat in peace, the less we bleed in war.” –Mother Teresa

Have you been at war with your life? So many to do’s to fulfill, people to please, long hours to keep, taking care of the have-tos filling all of your time? We all have twenty-four hours every day to spend. We can either invest it well or waste it. Mother Teresa’s quote is one for us mothers who may spend a lot of our time at war with our lives, fighting to get through every day. I know I have been in this war many times.

Usually when I find myself in this place again, I can look back over a span of time and see that I slipped out of making conscious choices to be in peace and gradually added on more and more. Fighting battles here and there until I’m just trying to get through tomorrow, a point in time where I think there is rest in sight. Have I lost touch with my family and real living? It’s easy to let the negative thoughts roll, but to be honest and kind, as we should be with ourselves, we’ve simply stepped away from our plan, distracted or had a change in our environment.

As soon as you can stop yourself and realize this, you can make a change. Pause, close your eyes and breathe in. Ask for guidance. Forgive yourself, let it go, breathe out, it’s over and now you are here. Heal, rebuild and be open to what comes next. What can you let go of? Chances are so much of what you are carrying can be delegated or scheduled into an organized plan; that or it’s not needed to be done after all. Get help if needed. It’s okay. None of us can do it all ourselves. It takes many hands to make work light. It’s time for you to enjoy your family, have fun and be fully present for all the yummy moments waiting for you!

If you don’t already have an accountability partner, a coach or mentor it might be your turn to get the support you need. We’d love for you to join our team of mommies who are living an Inspired Education and sharing the joy of living and learning.
