Reflections of a Happy Mother’s Day

Spring 2007: Jennifer 16, Joseph 4, Aaron 11, Lauren 9, & Jonathan 6.

I had a wonderful weekend with my precious family. But the whole time I just wasn’t sure whether Mother’s Day is for me or them. Perhaps I should be honoring them.

It is because they chose me that I have become their mother. They are my teachers, for they have taught me so much from the very day they were born. I believe they teach me more than I teach them. They keep me balanced and well grounded.

I am looking forward to when they are parents so that I can shower them with gratitude, love and abundance on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, for I know that they will be so very good at parenting. I am overflowing with gratefulness and love for my dear children.

“It is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson

We were all born to love and be loved.

Love and peace to you and yours,

It is no slight thing when those who are so fresh from God love us. I once heard a mother ask her 2 year old daughter if she remembered what it was like to live with God. This precious child answered with the freshness and delight you might expect. The day we quit delighting in the thoughts of a child, is the day we become “old” and stagnant.
